Canon has successfully developed compact digital cameras that efficiently utilise as few resources as possible, printers and multifunction devices that consume dramatically less energy, and programs for the collection and recycling of used toner cartridges.
Demonstrating its commitment to the environment, Canon pioneered the voluntary collection of used toner cartridges in 1990 and started toner cartridge recycling the following year. To date, we have collected a total of 190,000 tonnes globally. All collected cartridges are utilised as reused parts in new products or in material recycling and we achieve 100% recovery. Through this toner cartridge recycling program, we have reduced the use of new resources by 110,000 tons and CO2 emissions by 310,000 tonnes.
Canon Australia is proud to be a founding partner of the Cartridges for Planet Ark Program. Our cartridges collected through the program are returned through Canon’s global reuse and recycling program or recycled in Australia by Close the Loop.
